Alma V. Churchill Meadows
LEAGUE CITY – Alma V. Churchill Meadows, of League City, passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on Saturday, December 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 30, 1917 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. Meadows was a longtime resident of League City. She was a Momma and Grandma to many, family and strangers alike. She spent twenty years working in the nursery at Bay Area First Baptist Church, all while taking care of her nieces, nephews, grandkids, and anyone else who wandered in. She often spread her love throughout the community with her infamous chocolate sheet cakes and glazed pound cakes.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Daisy Churchill; her husband, Truman A. Meadows, Sr.; her daughter, Alma Elizabeth Meadows; her son, T.A. Meadows, Jr. and wife Harriett; her ten siblings, and her grand-daughter Dawndy Marques. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kim Barksdale and husband Gordon, Veronica Lawson and husband Jerry, Alvin Meadows and wife Joy, Sam “Bo” Meadows and wife Karen, Linda Jeffers and husband Billy, Randy Meadows and wife Christine, Paul Marques and wife Barbara; great-grandchildren, Nathan Osterman & wife Janae, Clay Osterman and wife Carrie, Travis Lawson and wife Aubrey, Justin Meadows and wife Taelor, Daniel and Alex Marques, Samantha Chuvala and husband Andrew, Kadie Meadows, Kyle Royal and wife Felicia, Michael Royal and wife Angelina, Ryan and Rebecca Meadows; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and nieces Lee “Honeygirl” Chapman, Alice Marie Legge, Helen Meadows, Great grandchildren Nathan Osterman and wife Janae, Clay Osterman and wife Carrie,Travis Lawson and wife Aubrey, Justin Meadows and wife Taelor, Samantha Chuvala and husband Andrew, Kadie Meadows, Kyle Royal and wife Felicia, Michael Royal and wife Angelina, Ryan Meadows, Rebecca Meadows, Daniel Marques and Alex Marques and Great Great Grandchildren Emree Osterman, Stevee Osterman, Caylee Osterman, Ashtyn Osterman, Isabella Lawson, Tara Lawson, Tyler Puccetti, Adaline Hunter, Savannah Chuvala, Haylee Royal, Ryder Royal, Paul Marques III
The Family will receive friends at 10:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Crowder Funeral Home in League City. Interment will follow at La Marque City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Osterman, Travis Lawson, Justin Meadows, Daniel Marques, Kyle Royal, and Ryan Meadows. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Osterman and Michael Royal.
I was saddened to hear about Alma. I loved working with her in the church nursery. She loved those babies and children. I always enjoyed visiting with her whether we were rocking babies, visiting in her home or in the car (I would sometimes pick her up since we lived close to each other.) I know from our visits how she loved her family and friends. My condolences to the family.
