There is the Traditional Funeral Service. This type of service is held when the deceased is present. A visitation is held the evening before the service. The funeral service takes place the following day; either in the chapel of the funeral home or in a church and can consist of scripture reading, prayers, a eulogy, sometimes a sermon, and music, depending on the wishes of the family. There is then a procession to the cemetery for the committal service, with the ceremonies concluded by a reception held at a church or the home of a loved one.
If the deceased is not present, a Memorial Service can be conducted at the funeral home, the families, a church, or even outdoors in a park or gazebo. Your loved one will be remembered through the heartfelt memories shared by friends and family. A memorial service can be conducted after a burial or cremation service. A Memorial Service can also be held in addition to a Traditional Funeral Service in situations when the deceased has been buried in different city or town.
The Committal Service is a brief service at the gravesite after a tradition funeral service but prior to the burial, where family and friends say their final good byes at the final resting place by placing flowers or sometimes sand on the casket.
A Grave Side Service is when the committal service is the only funeral service performed. A grave side service and is preceded by a visitation held the night before. It's lengthier than the committal service, consisting of scripture reading, eulogy, poetry, and music.
If the deceased did not want to have a ceremony, Crowder Funeral Homes offers direct cremation and burial.
